The Art & Science of Glaze Making & Technology

Glazing is a crucial step in ceramics, but it often gets overlooked or rushed. It can make or break your ceramic creations. It adds beauty, durability and personality to your pieces.

In this 2-part class, with the help of experienced ceramicist Peter Jones, you will learn how to make your own glazes and apply them to fired clay.

Session 1: Glaze Theory (online)
You’ll be sent an email on the day giving link to join

Session 2: Glaze Practice (workshop based at Makerspace)

You will understand the difference between glossy, satin and dry glazes, onglaze and underglaze and how to choose and apply the glaze from dipping and pouring to spraying. You will also learn how to avoid common glaze problems and start imagining new stunning designs.

Expect to experiment and make tests that you can take home once they have been fired.
