This ancient Japanese craft, renowned for its meditative qualities, is presented in a contemporary western style. Participants will experience the thrill of removing pottery from a 1000°C kiln and engaging in a post-firing process that creates a unique reduction atmosphere. This not only alters the glaze colours but also induces a distinctive crackling effect, ensuring each piece is a one-of-a-kind.
Essential Information:
Workshop duration is four hours of artistic discovery and hands-on Raku firing
Suitable for all skill levels
Maximum capacity is up to eight participants
Fee includes all materials, inclusive provision of clay, glazes and crafting tools
Each attendee will create, fire and take away two unique Raku pieces
Participants must be aged 18 or over

Complementing the creative process, chef Sid and his fantastic team at neighbouring cafe Patch will have prepared a seasonal soup and artisanal sourdough as a delicious, shared lunch.
