We were very excited to finally get access to our Letterpresses that were in storage in the Old Bus Garage on Queen Street in Colchester…. but we were extremely disappointed to discover they were stolen (not by the gentlemen pictured!). We suspect dismantled and sold for scrap.

We had a Solden (above) and Cropper (below) Press. Both very heavy and not the easiest things to move, considering the scrap value.

Obviously we are gutted but not ones to give up, we are keen to carry on. We’re meeting with the wonderful Paul Butler, David Jury and Justin Knopp (Typoretum) and hatching a plan and see how/if we can come up with a replacement. Hopefully the stars will align and universe will connect us to something else in need a home - stranger things have been known.

Keep your eyes peeled printer friends! We still have all the type etc and keen to ensure we can put it to use..
