I started as soon as I could hold a pencil. I did my first drawing at two after my first vaccine of a trolley with a kidney bowl. I copied a picture in a book and the teacher took it around the whole school at primary school.

I make satirical everyday objects that reflect my love of combining colours, words, things and materials. My range includes hand-made cards, enamel pin badges and collages. I trained as a sculptor and have recently explored ceramic techniques to translate my ideas into clay.” says Emma Barrow.

Ceramics begun for me when I went to my first, free-form clay workshop at the Makerspace. That then led onto the 3-week throwing workshop in January this year. After my first session, I was straight back into the studio the following morning playing with the clay and making some very questionable shapes. It was so fun.
